Welcome to Mundane Monday #154: Color contrast.
I am continuing Photrablogger’s Mundane Monday photography posts. Add your pingback and I will list submissions next week. My Monday is much later than photrablogger’s, so I am thinking of posting Sunday night, to get things rolling. Opinions?
I am back from Hawaii and work today. I read about the cardinals in Hawaii. They were introduced to the island from the east coast in 1929. They seem to be thriving and are so bright against the very verdant greens.
Photrablogger put submissions from the previous week up in the new week. While I was still trying to post remotely last Monday, Colette got the theme: angle.
For my friend Caroline, a black crowned night heron. We were 15 feet away when I spotted it! Hopeful, we think, that it was camouflaged and we were just being tourists. It was not frantic, more watchful.
For the Daily Prompt: frantic.
For the Daily Prompt: quartet.
Four legs!
We are in Hawaii.
These are juveniles, we read, up to 140 pounds. They come on shore now that they are protected, to rest. The adults are 200-400 pounds. It is hard to imagine how large the adults are. We are not to go within 2 car lengths — hooray for a zoom lens.
For the Daily Prompt: talisman.
What an interesting word. Talisman. What makes me feel safe? Where do I feel most safe, most loved, most joy?
Outdoors. Outside. With the birds, the deer, the trees. I am safest in the forest, away from people.
The latest news regarding Facebook and apps certainly reinforces that. I don’t trust technology, I don’t trust corporations, Big Data puts profit and money first, I do not trust people. Not in groups. Individually in clinic, yes. On Facebook, no.
And I realized the secret reason that I don’t twitter this week: I am a terrible speller. Yes, I am thinking of our twitter in chief and the spelling of counsel.
I would rather be outdoors trading songs with a bird than be indoors with a screen. Our television was turned off four years ago. I check varied news sources for a few minutes in the early morning. And then I turn them off.
Health to you and everyone.
We went to take photographs in the morning at Kai Tai Lagoon. We started at one end and walked to the other. There was a large distant flock of ducks, very quiet. When we got close enough for my zoom to handle, we found out why: most of them were asleep. In the early morning and gorgeous sun yesterday.
I want a day of puttering and napping and meandering, like these ducks.
For the Daily Prompt: meander.
For the Daily Prompt: suddenly.
For the Daily Prompt: wonder.
