For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: halcyon.
Are our memories accurate or do they fool us? Halcyon memories. I really like this photograph but it fools us a bit…. I am zoomed in very far trying to capture the sun breaking through the clouds. The picture is much more dramatic then where I was really standing. I can fool myself….
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: persist.
Oh, children are the most brilliant of all at persisting! Think of learning to walk, learning to talk, being small in this adult world and trying to keep up! Think of figuring it out when at first you have to realize that you have hands and that the noises mean something! And they persist!
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: play.
My daughter playing on the beach in California in 2010.
She is sculpting mountains:

the virtue of the disconnect
learnt early
as a child
they say we are broken
wired wrong
enduring horror
he wakes at night
sleeps lightly
what was your childhood like?
how did you sleep?
it was not safe
we had to get up
leave in the night
gunshots
you survived your childhood
yes, I did
sleeping lightly saved you
yes, it did
you could rewire that
it takes a lot of time
to change the childhood wiring
or you could just
be ok
with sleeping lightly
Mount Tahoma, Mount Rainier, the mountain effect on the clouds. The sunrise last week revealed a cone shaped cloud above the mountain. The interaction between the earth and the sky is so beautiful…. and from this distance the mountain is small against the sky.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: fumble.
Up near the bunker’s is Memory’s Vault. This is the first part of the poem A Lover’s Quarrel, about the longing for home. The poems are by Sam Hamill. It is a beautiful place.
I hope that no one fumbles with our hearts during the holidays and that we feel loved and home wherever we are….
For Norm2.0’s Thursday Doors.
I went for a walk at Fort Worden this week and did not walk on the beach. I was wearing work shoes not suitable for sand. I went up the bluff to the bunkers instead. The bunkers are so quiet in the winter, without all the tourists.
It was very dark yesterday by 3:00 pm. We are so close to the solstice now.
For Wordless Wednesday.
