Beautiful this morning and opening up two flowers!

For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
I am Elwha, cat.
Day three of offerings. My Mother did not even take a picture of day two. I do not understand why she scorns my offerings. This is a precious mouse that I extracted from the Tower.

This was a difficult operation. I stood on the sheep that warms and carefully tried to remove the tangled mouse. Mother interfered a little, but at last I could jump down with it. And I have offered it in exchange for more food! This precious toy!
Many thanks to all who made suggestions the other day. I still do not understand how a sub would help, but I will watch for one. Perhaps if I continue to make offerings and observe, I will be able to communicate with Mother. She seems loving, even though she is also obtuse. I am still hungry and lose weight. I fear starvation. My sister laughs when I approach her, but she is smaller and does not have the same needs. Mother feeds us in separate rooms. It is frustrating.
Heart of wood, by the sea
What do the spirits say to me?
His heart is stone not wood you see
And he’ll never come back, never come back, never come back to me
Tree torn from land by flooding water
bark and branches torn asunder
thrown back to the beach stripped and bare
bleached and dried lying there
grass and sand and stones on strand
I wonder how much a heart can stand
This doesn’t really fit today’s Ragtag Daily Prompt. I was looking for another photograph which fits and found this one.
Ooooooo! Listening to Mitch Ryder and the Wheels Sock it to me baby, one of the songs here.
My muscles are BACK. Sometime in the last two weeks, while I was helping a friend in Michigan, my muscles came back. Three days ago I felt better than I have since before March of 2021. My normal energy level was back.
So what did I do? Overdid, of course. I did a beach walk on Thursday and then a local walk with a friend on Friday and then went to hear Johnathan Doyle on Saturday, fabulous! I had to dance!
Paid for it yesterday. The fast twitch muscles are back but it doesn’t mean they are strong. They are NOT strong. I have to be patient (I am not patient!). Yesterday I spent most of the day lying on the couch. Everything hurt and cramped. Ow.
BUT I can build those muscles up!
Here are some of my ex’es and my favorite bands and songs from jitterbug and lindyhop dance back in Washington, DC. I was delighted to see that Little Red and the Renegades is still playing. They played at the Kennedy Center early on New Year’s Eve. My spirit wanted to go but the body did not.
That is not a song they played back in the 1980s. We all get older!
And Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra! We danced to them and I know the gentleman lindy hopping at the start. Probably others there too. We loved the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo.
And this was one of my ex’s and my favorite recorded songs to dance to… gosh, how naughty but true right?
I am so happy to have my fast twitch muscles BACK. Now I just need to build them up!
The photograph is from 1989, at our wedding. We are doing a move that was called “New York Kicks”. I think the photographer is my ex’s uncle. The band was Darryl Davis who is also still playing and is a friend and have you seen any of his Ted Talks?
Don’t Shilly-Shally! Get your dance shoes on now!
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: shilly-shally.
I still think of you occasionally
when I pay the bills, I think of you
when I clean the catbox, I think of you
when I clear the spam, I think of you
it’s the Get’a’super-sized’rod’ ones
that make me think of you and laugh
I want to send them to you every time
I still think of you occasionally
Get’a’super-sized’rod’ and poo and bills
Actually I am not sure if this is a flower. It is a plant attached to a rock, from the Fort Worden beach yesterday. Do seaweeds flower? Some of them do change color at different times of year. This one is wearing fall and winter colors.
For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
NOAA’s What is Seaweed?
Wikipedia says yes, some seaweed flower: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaweed.
This will cause a punctate wound if we step on it! But the word is not punctate but punctuate! I think my language would be highly punctuated if I stepped on it! Something like #$^&**%#$!
Taken in September in Ohio.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt punctuate.
This oak in Maryland has stubborn leaves. After Christmas and refusing to fall and still attached. Most of the other trees that were going to lose their leaves already had, but not this oak.
For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
I chose measly for the Ragtag Daily Prompt because there is a measles outbreak. Great. Another outbreak? Yes. Parents are behind on bringing kids in for Well Child Checks and kids are behind on immunizations, so measles.
Measles is way more infectious than Covid-19 and is spread by coughing and droplets. Per the CDC: “Measles is one of the most contagious diseases. Measles is so contagious that if one person has it, up to 90% of the people close to that person who are not immune will also become infected.” Read here. Immunizations are at 18 months and age 4-6, two shots. That will make the vast majority of children immune but not quite all. No immunization reaches quite 100%. Measles unfortunately can have some awful and serious complications including death. If your child is behind, get them immunized as soon as possible!
If some has the measles, the rash, they are measly. That is one of the definitions of measly.
Measly weasely
You are so teasely
Your heart has a rash
Our friendship is hash
You toss me like trash
Your heart just smashed
You are so measly
Weasely teasely

I keep wondering if the earth is annoyed at the way people are behaving. Perhaps she has said, βRelease the Kraken!β But the most efficient Kraken turns out not to be a giant monster attacking New York City, but Covid-19, influenza, measles and strep A. Invasive strep A is out there too. Having had strep A pneumonia and borderline sepsis twice, I very much do not want invasive strep A.
Itβs the little things that get us, right? Viruses, bacteria. Measles is a virus, like influenza and Covid-19. Strep A is a bacteria. I had very bad influenza in 2003 that put me out for two months. I read about influenza and thought, oh, we will have another pandemic and in fact we were overdue. They come about every fifty years. My children heard quite a bit about it. My daughter said she wondered if I was a little nuts until the ebola outbreak and then she decided that I was probably and unfortunately correct. The only surprise for me was that it was a coronavirus instead of influenza. That and that humans behave in very interesting and often dysfunctional ways when they are stressed: and the same ways as in the 1918-1920 influenza pandemic. Logic flies out the window replaced by panic, magical thinking and rumors and people happy to take advantage of others. Selling fake cures, refusing masks, refusing immunizations and denying that it is happening at all.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: measly.
This two too to I want to remember.
Licking? Touch for certain, together.
Warmth and safety and rest and trust.
The trust eroded as you run away
over and over. You say always but
you say other things that I can’t believe.
And yet my heart is stubborn still.
This two too to I want to remember.
