For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: canal.
Nope, not a canal. A pass: Deception Passage. Taken in December 2018. This is looking at the San Juan Islands from the top of the hills around the pass.

For Norm2.0’s Thursday doors.
I am lame! I meant to start photographing doors in town but I was distracted by snow and hummingbirds and eagles. And then I tweaked my back so I really am lame…. but this is a virtual door, to think of spring, in spite of the snow.
Here are orchids and snow and then a hummingbird to make up for it.

The robins come in early. The tree looks like one of those find it games, or a puzzle where the pieces all look the same. They fly in and out of the tree and sometimes all take flight at once.
Others wait in the tall trees across the street, alert for danger.

At home I saw another smaller flock in a tree in my yard. A flock of smaller birds joined them. It is the silhouette that tells their story.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: sanctuary.
I have been worried about certain patients and my yard hummingbird, Tictoc. But I am relieved to see Tictoc today, zipping around and sheltering when the snow starts back up.

For the Ragtag Daily prompt: baggage.
Boa Cat does not like baggage. Baggage means I am going on a trip without her. She will sit in the suitcase when I am packing. I have taken her with me to stay at a friend’s. She doesn’t like the car much either, but puts up with it.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: hum.
Tictoc is the hummingbird who lives in my yard. I don’t think they can fly in heavy snow.

It finally stopped snowing. Tictoc was really happy.

I think this fits the Ragtag Daily Prompt: skedaddle.
We did get snow yesterday! Boa cat did not want to stay out with me.
I went to a memorial last night, for a singer.
This photograph is from 2015, a memorial sing for my father, who sang in three or more choruses here from 1996 until 2013. Actually he was raised singing and with music. My sister and I were raised singing, too.
My father and the singer we were remembering performed folk songs locally.
We sang last night. I chose a round.
all things shall perish from under the sky
music alone shall live
music alone shall live
music alone shall live
never to die
Here is a version sung in three languages.
With each new loss we remember the old ones: I miss my mother, my father, my sister. The round comforts me: all things shall perish, yet music alone shall live, never to die.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: wanderlust.
“And how are you getting back?” I ask my daughter. “Are you going to edge backwards?”
She laughs.

And she returns without falling in the lake.
Here at last are my two star close ups of the eagles. I am standing on the path right below the tree. The eagles are putting up with me with amazing patience. They are so high up that other people are walking right by and not noticing. Take out the earbuds! Look up!
I am submitting both to the Ragtag Daily Prompt: flight.
And thank you, eagles!
