Photrablogger’s Mundane Monday #107, spring color!
My daughter and I ferried and drove to Bellingham yesterday and stopped for lunch. The rhododendron is just ready to open and the colors are so bright and cheerful!
Blogging from A to Z, the letter Q.
When do you feel quiet?
I feel quiet walking in the woods or on the beach. There is a path through the woods two blocks from me. It is only one block long. But my heart immediately quiets when I go there, even for just that block. Last time I walked though it, a young wild rabbit froze to hide. He was right by the path and perfectly visible. I stopped and waited a little and then walked forward. He panicked when I got close and dived for the briars.
My yard quiets my heart: trees and flowers. (Except when I notice that I should mow again.) The sky, the clouds, the stars all quiet me.
Yesterday a friend asks, “Do you think life is hard?”
“Yes,” I say, “I think it’s often hard but beautiful too.”
The photograph is from Deception Pass, about a month ago. Moss and rocks quiet my heart too.
The picture is not quite what you thought of from the title, is it? I do think that green roofs are a wonderful idea.
My daughter is home for the weekend and we went on a long walk in Fort Worden. The plants are taking the buildings back over time….
This is for photrablogger’s Mundane Monday #104.
My mother would say “Spring has sprung!”. I walk from the clinic up town and we have flowers blooming everywhere: star magnolias, cherries, daffodils, hyacinths, plums. And yesterday afternoon was beautiful and sunny. One of those days that makes people move here, not realizing that they’d better love the low close clouds too.
I’ve already submitted to Mundane Monday, but I took this one thinking of the site… back to the outdoors and sand and blue….Yesterday was sunny and glorious and we walked the beach….
These are just rocks, right? We heard the birds in the rocks before we saw them: black oystercatchers. They make a wonderfulΒ queep call and we stopped to look for them right away. They are very quick searching the rocks. This is taken with a zoom lens and I didn’t want to go closer and disturb them.
From night and water and the moon rise, to day and the plains and rain. I took this from a train a few years ago, going from Edmonds to Chicago and back.
My sleep cycle is a bit messed up, so I am up in the night. Here is a moon rise, more blue….
Doing rural medicine and attending deliveries and inpatient and call for years, I don’t worry if my sleep cycle is off time. I am happy to fall asleep early and don’t care if I am up in the night! There were years where I had call weekends of 72 hours or worked in clinic after a clinic day and being up most of the night. I like sleep but I don’t worry about when…. it is all good….
Fort Worden again and evening. The light is changing but is not deep blue yet. The pale grass stands out against the hill in the changing light.
