This photograph is also from my hike two days ago. These are broadhead skinks, I am told. Skinks are lizards and their family has 1500+ species. This pair was right by the hiking trail. I tried not to spook them and succeeded. They were still curled there when we walked on.

This is from a beautiful hike yesterday.
Good morning! Good spring! I am thankful for the soft pink and green of spring, for new growth, for bird song and goslings, for ducklings and the fierce hummingbirds guarding territory….may you walk in beauty for a part of each day…..
Back to the goose family from last week. They are out for a family walk and a swim, with the parents alert and on guard for their little ones!

Photrablogger’s Mundane Monday #107, spring color!
My daughter and I ferried and drove to Bellingham yesterday and stopped for lunch. The rhododendron is just ready to open and the colors are so bright and cheerful!
Blogging from A to Z, the letter Q.
When do you feel quiet?
I feel quiet walking in the woods or on the beach. There is a path through the woods two blocks from me. It is only one block long. But my heart immediately quiets when I go there, even for just that block. Last time I walked though it, a young wild rabbit froze to hide. He was right by the path and perfectly visible. I stopped and waited a little and then walked forward. He panicked when I got close and dived for the briars.
My yard quiets my heart: trees and flowers. (Except when I notice that I should mow again.) The sky, the clouds, the stars all quiet me.
Yesterday a friend asks, “Do you think life is hard?”
“Yes,” I say, “I think it’s often hard but beautiful too.”
The photograph is from Deception Pass, about a month ago. Moss and rocks quiet my heart too.
The picture is not quite what you thought of from the title, is it? I do think that green roofs are a wonderful idea.
My daughter is home for the weekend and we went on a long walk in Fort Worden. The plants are taking the buildings back over time….
