Sol Duc lengthens and tapers when the temperature goes over 100 degrees. She doesn’t quite melt.

Elwha enjoying the rocker and the sun by my desk last July.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: sunburn.
I am Elwha. Mom is talking to herself again. She’s arguing about whether I am striped or specked. I say, “Mom, I am CAT!” but sometimes she doesn’t listen. She has been giving us a little catnip daily and after I roll and sniff it, I don’t care what she calls me.
She has put the stick up in the kitchen again. I wonder if it is because it’s so cold? We still want to go outside, with the silly leash and harnesses, but the dark is here and it rains and blows. When the light is present, so are the awful cars. I am not spending as much time outside. I do hope for the light to increase again soon. I can feel that it will, but I am not sure exactly when.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: speckled.
Barbie doctor is trying to interview the Get Real Girl about the origin of the missing part in front of her, but Elwha intervenes.
“Who, me?” says Elwha. “I am trying to help! I don’t eat Barbies or Get Real Girls!”

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: missing part.
The funny bit is that I knew right where this missing part was: on a dresser upstairs. It’s the rest of the doll that has gone missing.
The cats find this in my house and carry it around. I had Barbies in the 1970s. You can see the tag in this picture. Barbie/Mattel. The stole is made of rabbit fur with a nylon lining. Very 1970s, since I doubt Mattel would sell rabbit fur as a Barbie accessory now. The cats think it is fabulous.
The doll holding it is not a Barbie. It is a Get Real Girl, who has more normal proportions and normal feet. This one came with a backpack, hiking clothes and all she needs for camping. She is from the early 2000s. She’s better at driving the ambulance than the Barbies because her joints are much more fluid.

Elwha and Sol Duc, at rest from their labors: eating, purring, demanding to be walked, and burying something interesting in the bowl for me to photograph. The toy mice are sopping wet.

A catlaptop.
A friend has a dog that sheds in the spring in great piles. On first glance the yard looks like rabbit murder, until you realize that it is dog fur.
And why would it be in my car? I’m not sure I want to say. It has something to do with rocks and eggshells and feathers and a project that is forming in my mind.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: allergy.
