Not snappy

Day 2 of the Great Port Townsend Bay Kinetic Sculpture Race. The race starts at “low noon” and winds up up up hill and then some downhill to the fairgrounds: and there is the Mud Bog. Each sculpture has to pick one of three courses. They are deep and muddy and rutted. The sculptures can be moved sideways but not forward or back. There is a time limit. It looks like very hard work!

There is a lot of standing around. In costume. Observing and commenting. Kinetic Kop presence.

I love this sculpture. Headed for the mud.

Others waiting.

He is fairly snappy.

Uh-oh!

He makes it and the buns are next!

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: snappy.

Red and yellow ribbons

We are half way through the Great Port Townsend Bay Kinetic Sculpture Race.

Yesterday was the Parade and the Brake Test and the Bribing of Judges and the Going Full Speed No Brakes into Port Townsend Bay and then paddling or floating or somehow getting out. And the glorious Kinetic Ball and Krowning of the Kween!

Today, so many more events! The race up the winding hill and then the Mud Bog at the fair grounds! The Teddy Bear trebuchet! More Bribes! And the coveted “most mediocre” award!

Blessings on all the Kinetic Kops for keeping everyone from being run over and for everyone who contributed! The Chimacum High School Marching Band and the Unexpected Brass Band added to the festivities!

For the Ragtag Daily Prompts: ribbon and red and yellow.

…because the pants alone aren’t loud enough.

Another in my Outfits Inappropriate For Work series. It is difficult to type wearing my claws. Also patients would get distracted if I wore something too weird. I can’t think why.

I got the claws at a church sale yesterday. I was told they went with a game, “You’ve Got Crabs!” Turns out they don’t, but maybe they should! I went looking vaguely for a CD case for my car and got two: however they came with CDs. Everything from Cake to Spongebob Favorites to Johnny Cash to Disney Favorites. I am SET.

So who wants to play “You’ve got crabs!”?

Do you have an Outfit Inappropriate For Work? Is a Silly Selfie a Silthie?

betrayed by my own brain

I took a very long nap after pulmonary rehab yesterday, pushed myself on the treadmill. I was tired. So then at midnight I can’t sleep, feel sad and sappy, get up, write Sorrow.

Then my own brain starts making fun of me.

It plays a soundtrack:

Yeah, ok, so my OWN BRAIN is making fun of me feeling heartbroken. Ok, ok, I am over it for this night. Let’s move on, I think I will manifest this instead. Yeah. I need a skintight dress and some heavy makeup, so there.

The header photograph is from Centrum’s Blues Fest on Saturday. Fabulous and fun!

Fibbing Friday Silly Adages

  1. Cool as a caterpiggle.
  2. Is that aΒ  Β heffalump in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?
  3. Green as Groot.
  4. Wet your Walrus (and carpenter).
  5. Too many woozles spoil heffalump hunting.
  6. You can put lipstick on a woozle, but it will still be a weasel like worry.
  7. O what a tangled web we weave, when first we imitate Charlotte.
  8. Don’t throw the Winnie-ther-Pooh out with the woozles.
  9. Many hands make light of silly adages.
  10. It must be Groot, because Yoda don’t shake like that!

I have been not thinking about this for a couple of days, stuck on the first one. Oh, silly and nonsense go together, don’t they? Let’s play with some made up words! Many thanks to Winnie-ther-Pooh, Groot, the Walrus and the Carpenter, Pogo, Yoda, Charlotte’s Web, and all the many woozles, caterpiggles and heffalumps out there!

For Fibbing Friday, just under the wire!

What does the photograph have to do with this? Nothin. Heh-heh.

Shift or not?

Shift or not? Oh. I read it as swift or not. I am not going to shift from swift. It is too early to swiftly shift from swift to shift. Swift or not? Well, both. Not a swift as in the bird, but a swift and strong flier. Great blue herons always look incongruous to me in trees. They do like really big trees, but they always surprise me out on a branch. They have very light hollow bones compared to us and can sit lightly on a branch like this.

For the RDP: shift. I am swiftly feeling incongruously shifty on this early Monday.

needed

The Ragtag Daily Prompt today is referee. I might need one. A referee. Or a keeper.

Yesterday I went for a walk. No big deal, right? Except that I am still jet lagged from a trip and I had to stay an extra eight days because of I got (thankfully mild) covid and my muscles are still a bit weird.

I go with my friend J, who usually walks 16-20 miles on what he calls day hikes. We walk from my house to North Beach and then out North Beach nearly to Glass Beach. I bring water. He brings water and cliff bars. I eat one. We turn back. It is glorious and gorgeous and sunny and he is up visiting from Portland. We talk and talk.

I am pretty tired by the time we get to the parking lot and think, oh good. Then I remember: no, we walked from my house. Two more miles. I am trying not to limp by the time I home. He goes off to work some more and I crash on the couch.

After a bit I realize that I am not hungry and I feel peculiar and my legs hurt a lot. Uh-oh. I get up. I can’t remember the name of the muscle disorder, but I remember what it does. Seriously overdoing can cause muscle breakdown. This in turn can be very bad for the kidneys. I need fluids, right away. I mix 12 ounces of water with a little sugar and salt. Later I add bicarb, baking soda. It doesn’t taste either bad or good. I eat three dried apricots: potassium.

After 48 ounces of this and two hours, I start feeling a little better, and my kidneys start working again. My legs hurt less. I feed the cats and I still don’t want food. Ok, well, I won’t starve over night. More fluids and to sleep.

I finally have a little bit of an appetite this morning. Not much. I am tired and a bit sore but not like yesterday. Whew. I need a keeper.
