Those aren’t bears! Oh, yes… this is the New Year’s Polar Bear Plunge and these intrepid swimmers are now Polar Bears. The plunge is at noon on Marrowstone Island. A cannon is fired and people jump off the dock and into the water, cold Salish Sound water, in the low fiftys. Brrrr. The ambulance crew stands by and family and friends to witness this transformation into bears for the day.
This makes me think of my daughter in daycare. She and one of the daycare personnel developed an art relationship. My daughter brought home pages with lines of color painted, parallel lines, color spectrums. I still have one on the wall at home.

For Wordless Wednesday.
On Thanksgiving I tried to capture a shot of one of our neighbor hummingbirds out the window. I have a feeder. They are so fast! Perched one moment and then gone. And yet I like the photograph….
Here is the best capture of this one…. not in focus but look at that red. This hummingbird’s throat looks green or dark from the side. The red is only straight on, flashed, startling and beautiful.
Everyone helped with Thanksgiving this year. My daughter made apple crisp. She had a young friend help cut the apples. It all tasted delicious, every bite.
