Gold deer

I go for coffee with B in March, in the early morning. It is clear and the rising sun turns everything gold. We are out on one of the docks with our coffee. Two deer come to the water and walk along it, under the dock and back. They are not here to quench their thirst, because this is the Salish Sea, not fresh water. So what are they doing?

“It’s clear, let’s go down to the water. It is so pretty out. Now, before most of the people are up.”

“Yes, let’s!”

Just like us.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: quench.

My parents taught me the song. It dates back to the 1500s.

Seat in the sun

For XingfuMama’s Pull up a Seat Photo Challenge 2024: Week 16.

Yesterday was gorgeous. I took a friend to her second round of radiation therapy. It takes about two and a half hours, since we have to drive to another town. She was very tired and wanted to sleep when she got back. I went to lunch, seating overlooking Port Townsend Bay, in the sun. It was one of those days that makes people want to move here, not realizing that low clouds are more frequent than this glorious warm sun.

I am Elwha

Mother is cutting our food again. Sol Duc and I would rather eat through the day whenever we feel like it AND out of each other’s bowls. She picks up my bowl sometimes! Then the other bowl is empty and there is NOTHING!

As you can see, I continue to offer my favorite things in exchange for food. Mother took platy, but she just rinsed her in the sink. I got her back when she dried. Sometimes if I drop toys in the puddle, the little ants come. They do not taste good. They are not good food. Sol Duc and I persist, though.

I may put the finger box back on the small noisy sky thing setting. Since Mother won’t give us more food. She did get a new water thing. I am not sure about it. I would rather have food.
