Oh, hoorah for zoom lenses, because I feel like I am standing on another branch to photograph our heron. My friend goes to the other side of the tree and I work my way around. We are great blue heron paparazzi, in love with our subject, taking picture after picture.
However, we did not get her to fly from the dock. That was another boat arriving and a person walking out.
I was trying to follow the heron in flight. This is not in focus, but I like it anyhow! I need a tripod and practice, or just lots more practice…. Photographing synchronized swimming, timing is important, but at least they stay in the pool.
For the Daily Prompt: coincidence. I had my camera ready and caught this. Coincidence or skill? Some of each, and trying to catch birds in flight is very much like trying to catch synchronized swimmers out of the water. I photographed synchro for seven years.
Walking on Herron Island, there were stellar jays and woodpeckers and small birds flitting fast. Much harder to catch in a focused photograph than the great blue heron standing still. I like the light through the trees anyhow….
This is for photrablogger’s Mundane Monday 128. I walked past Travis Park in San Antonio going from the hotel to the conference center. I went on both Saturday and Sunday evening and listened to great jazz.
Refugees welcome - Flüchtlinge willkommen I am teaching German to refugees. Ich unterrichte geflüchtete Menschen in der deutschen Sprache. I am writing this blog in English and German because my friends speak English and German. Ich schreibe auf Deutsch und Englisch, weil meine Freunde Deutsch und Englisch sprechen.
