Oh, hoorah for zoom lenses, because I feel like I am standing on another branch to photograph our heron. My friend goes to the other side of the tree and I work my way around. We are great blue heron paparazzi, in love with our subject, taking picture after picture.
However, we did not get her to fly from the dock. That was another boat arriving and a person walking out.

i’m hoping for a zoom lens for Chistmas. ;)
Splendid capture. The legs make it look like he is walking (sauntering) along the branch.
thank you! I have a built in zoom…. from my father.
awesome…nice father :)
I fell in love with built in zooms way back in the 1980s, a small minolta that my father had. He gave it to me, because I liked it so much. Before that I had one of those terrible tiny 110s.
Out of curiosity, what lens were you using? That’s a fabulous photo, with great clarity.
Panasonic Lumix with a built in 24x optical zoom. At that distance I hold my breath for each shot to stay in focus.
and thank you! I love the long trailing neck feathers, like a necklace…or a ruff.
DMC-FZ150. Looks like it came out in about 2011. My father died in 2013.
