For Wordless Wednesday.
For the Daily Prompt: carve. I think of skiing, bicycling. And I think of a piece of my heart. I wrote this in the early 2000s.
Butterfly Girl Comes to Visit
She is so beautiful with her wings
multicolored many splendored lights caught and multiplied
as she flutters
I freeze
I am an ogre
Huge and clumsy
I know from past past many times
Not to touch you
My rough fingers have brushed the tiny feathers from your wings
You cry in pain and your flight becomes erratic
My kiss is just as bad
Rough lips
If I move the wind of my passing blows you against a window
You fall stunned
I hold and crush
the box of feelings that can hurt you
Sorrow, anger, fear, dismay
Even fatigue turns my aura red
And scorches your wings
I hate to cause you pain
Fly butterfly girl
My baby needs me, my pager rings
My ogre husband stirs
The effort of holding still plain on his face
I can’t hold still much longer
Butterfly girl
Fly on home
For the Daily Prompt: atmospheric.
This is for photrablogger’s Mundane Monday 128. I walked past Travis Park in San Antonio going from the hotel to the conference center. I went on both Saturday and Sunday evening and listened to great jazz.
I love the dark night and the bright day, the moon and the sun, the fire and the water, the love and the grief, the cow and the horse, the dog and the cat, the air and the earth.
Where is the stealthie, you say?
It’s a moon stealthie….the moon is so beautiful.
Back to 7 sins and friends, virtues and views. I am behind on the Blogging from A to Z, sick yesterday. When I overdo I get a massive headache, nausea and have trouble standing upright.
Are you kind? Kindness is one of the Seven Heavenly Virtues, to oppose the sin of envy.
And that is interesting. Dictionary.com lists the following for kind:
adjective, kinder, kindest.
1. of a good or benevolent nature or disposition, as a person:
a kind and loving person.
2. having, showing, or proceeding from benevolence:
kind words.
3. indulgent, considerate, or helpful; humane (often followed by to):
to be kind to animals.
4. mild; gentle; clement:
kind weather.
5. British Dialect. loving; affectionate.
But it lists the antonym as cruel, not envious.
Have the words changed meaning? Do you think of kindness as the opposite of envy? Does envy lead us to be cruel?
I took this photograph in the fading light and so it is soft and grainy. I am thinking that for me walking outside and going to nature is healing. Walking in the beauty of the earth and the evening night falling, it feels as if the earth itself is kind. I don’t think any feeling is evil: but I would rather manage envy on my own. I would rather act on kindness.
I may run out of blue titles….
It is early here and still dark, though this was taken at night in the evening light…
The last and darkest blues and blacks in my moon rise series. This time I am zoomed in. I love the light on the upper edge of the cloud as well as in the middle. I was cold and went home…. blue and bluest…
