Who is this diving? Can you tell?

Whew, at the end of Blogging from A to Z, happy things all month. I am tired. This weekend I went to see my daughter at college. We went for a walk and saw the above bird. More than one. Have you guessed?

This is a Common Loon, in breeding plumage, here.

I love the precise collar of black and white that stops at the back of the neck. They swim much lower in the water than our mallards, and the mallards don’t dive.

Ready to dive:

Mundane Monday #156

Welcome to Mundane Monday #156: our theme today is serendipitous light. Does serendipitous light contradict mundane? I don’t think so. We were walking on the beach in the evening and as the angle of the light changed, Marrowstone Island lit up under the lowering clouds. I stopped taking pictures of the flock of brant and took pictures of the land and sky instead.

What picture do you have of serendipitous or accidental or fortuitous light? Link and I will post them next Monday.

Last Mundane Monday #155, the theme was close color.

Happy Monday and I hope that your sky and horizon light up more than once this week.

There, I managed to mess up links to #155 at least three times….learning.

putter

We went to take photographs in the morning at Kai Tai Lagoon. We started at one end and walked to the other. There was a large distant flock of ducks, very quiet. When we got close enough for my zoom to handle, we found out why: most of them were asleep. In the early morning and gorgeous sun yesterday.

I want a day of puttering and napping and meandering, like these ducks.

For the Daily Prompt: meander.
