The light was spectacular.
Taken downtown this week.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: spectacular.
Downtown.
For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
I walked downtown in the sun the last two days. It is gorgeous with the leaves still on the trees and falling. Usually it is raining now, so the beautiful fall weather is a little disconcerting. A bit worrisome, even as we enjoy it.
The statue is Galatea, the Haller Fountain, here: https://porttownsendvirtualartmuseum.org/pages/Galatea.html.
Galatea is one of fifty Nereids, sisters, born to Nerius, the God of the Sea in Greek Mythology. The statue that was granted life in Pygmalion by Aphrodite is also Galatea. Galatea is also the fourth inner closest moon of Neptune.
If she comes to life, what will she do? I keep thinking that the earth is coming awake and shaking us to wake us up. Storms and earthquakes and hurricanes and floods. Wikipedia says “The Nereids symbolized everything that is beautiful and kind about the sea.” That seems ironic too, as the sea starts to rise more and more.
We can’t break the earth’s laws, or she will break us.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: law.
For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
I think of how you treat me with low dudgeon.
Rarely and when fatigued I think of you.
You hide away, a hermit like curmudgeon
pusillanimous liar, unfaithful and untrue.
We share a childhood full of trauma
I work hard to heal from all the strife
but you choose to elevate the drama
and excise protestations from your life.
I ask Beloved what I am assigned to do.
You don’t believe in angels nor in me.
The mystery of angels leads me here to you;
like a bear you hide up in the trees.
I find the change the loved Beloved grants.
You refusing change, I ban you from my pants.

Stille means quiet in Danish. Two syllables
still-leh, with a soft lilt at the end
a soft lilt at the end, stille
jeg taenker om dig
pronounced yii tanker om die
dig is pronounced die
seems appropriate for this poem
but dig means you and taenker think
and you can guess the rest
peaceful and stille
I am here
I try to be so gentle with you
trauma drama boy
I know just what it’s like
though mine is not the same as yours
you run away, though
again and again
saying that you would never try
to hurt me ever
that is a shut down
really
since you disavow all intention of hurting
you do whatever you want
your attitude is that if I am hurt or sad
it’s my own fault
you take no responsibility for failures
as a friend
trauma drama boy, you run away
once more
and this time
I’ve had enough
This time
I let you go
Beloved bless you and keep you
for the days you have left
sending love
goodbye
