uncaptured

On Thanksgiving I tried to capture a shot of one of our neighbor hummingbirds out the window. I have a feeder. They are so fast! Perched one moment and then gone. And yet I like the photograph….

Here is the best capture of this one…. not in focus but look at that red. This hummingbird’s throat looks green or dark from the side. The red is only straight on, flashed, startling and beautiful.

black is the color

For the Daily Prompt: black.

I took this on the Poulsbo World Wide Photowalk. The kids were ahead of us and I tried to catch it quickly. My friend wanted to too, but he was on steps with wet leaves and crutches: don’t do anything fast in that case.

A day late, but blessings on the veterans and their spouses and their children and their parents and their friends and the people who help them when they come home… and really, everyone.

enter the dark

For photrablogger’s Mundane Monday #133.

I took this in 2004, in the spring. My daughter and a friend are in the tent, having a tea party, with spray whipped cream and a china tea set. The tree is just budding out. There is a ladder up to the tree platform, built with the help of my daughter’s grandfather. He is 91 now.

Is this mundane? What is mundane? We are entering the dark part of the year hear, wet and cold. We hope that spring will return. Happy Halloween……
