Our Rhody Fest is in May, with the Grand Parade, tricycle races, the bed race, and my Sunrise Rotary “Running of the Balls”. But I took this photograph two days ago: this rhododendron is not going to wait for May. No time like the present and in full bloom in February and gorgeous. A touch, a promise, harbinger of spring!

In 2006, I am photographing the cousins all swimming and a mud fight starts…. oh. Should I stop it? “No rocks!” I say. My sister chimes in, “Don’t throw mud at us!” My daughter prudently gets out.

I am thinking of Rube Goldberg, here: https://www.rubegoldberg.com/education/. I think of his fabulously complicated drawings of imaginative machines.
