fire eater

I spent much of yesterday at the Uptown Street Fair in Port Townsend. The Farmer’s Market was beautiful and busy, a second street was blocked off for craft stalls, and Lawrence Street had entertainment on stage from 11:00 until after 4:30. I finally danced myself into the ground and went home! I am a bit stiff this morning! Hooray for the bands and the tiny uptown parade, the color guard, the police and all of the people and businesses who put the fair on, came out, and shared a stunningly gorgeous day!

The Kinetic Sculptures were out, a wonderful drum group, the Port Townsend brass band, artists, dancers, buskers and lots of food.

Today is the County Picnic…..

For the Daily Prompt: trance, though I don’t think she was in a trance at all. I think the audience was entranced!

arrival

This is for Thursday doors. A door on a barge….

I went to the Pourhouse last night. A four apartment building was arriving by barge from Vancouver. It was unloaded into the parking lot with two cranes and various trucks. Today they will be dropping power lines as they convey it through town.

The beer garden was very popular…. unique entertainment.

Ready for the trip through town, dropping power lines, today.

Maxfield Parish clouds I

This is for photrablogger’s Mundane Monday Challenge #58, though Monday didn’t feel mundane at all! My son graduated from WSU this weekend and we were in Pullman, in the frenzy of excited students and parents and families.

The photograph is from last Monday. I left chorus and the clouds put on a gorgeous show over Port Townsend Bay, light and lit like a Maxfield Parish painting….

Congratulations to all of the graduates everywhere….

Convalesce in style

This post is for my cousin, who is convalescing. She is showing the classic convalescent improvement sign beloved by all physicians in that she is already impatient with the pace of healing.

I took the photo last week when I was downtown and The Palace Hotel had a sign inviting everyone to walk around. It is a fabulous 1889 building and is full of amazing rooms and furniture. I have stayed there once, in the Captain Tibbels room.

This fainting couch is on the second floor common area. I picture my cousin lying on the couch in a period glamorous dress, with a handkerchief and smelling salts. Or if that is too romantic, she could wear steampunk style, as she convalesces…..
