I took this from a canoe, paddling on Lake Matinenda in Ontario in 2015.
Lake Matinenda, Ontario, Canada 2015.
This is the last in this costume series and now it’s revealed. My sister was not wearing a costume but she contributed to the festivities by showing off her ballet skills. Her daughter was more interested in dinner than ballet at that particular moment, even though they performed together. My sister loved to dance and loved the costumes there too.
Taken in 2009, Lake Matinenda, Ontario, Canada. My sister died of breast cancer in 2012.
2009 again, my sister, and she is not wearing a costume. However, she is preparing to contribute to our costume dinner. What is she doing?
This is at a friend’s cabin at Lake Matinenda in Ontario, Canada…..
Now my daughter is expressing her interpretation of emotion to go with the flamenco dress: drama. This is out of character for my introverted daughter…. and her sense of the ridiculous shows up as well….
In 2009.
I am trying to convince my daughter that with the dramatic flamenco costume, it is also appropriate to show dramatic emotion. She is considering what I say.
From 2009.
Remember, sisty? The costume my daughter wore, a flamenco dress that her brother brought her from a trip to Spain… I like her choice of shoes for the woods…
Today is my sister’s birthday. She died from cancer four years ago. I took the photo in 2009.
For photrablogger’s Mundane Monday #30, water rising into the air.
I took this in August 2006 at Lake Matinenda in Ontario, Canada, during the sunrise.
Photrablogger asked “Water water everywhere :DΒ I am curious to know about your connection with boats and canoes. Because you grew up playing in such an environment?”
My maternal grandparents bought land on a lake in Ontario in the 1930s and we were all imprinted like ducks…. went there many summers. I went this summer. My family moved but that was the place where I knew the rocks and the trees and the cabins. My family was in tents, so I am particularly attached to the land. I use the cabin but want to sleep in a tent and hear the water and the wind and the rain…..
I don’t know who took the photo: from 1963, I think, I was two.
This is for Photrablogger’s Mundane Monday number 25.
I took this in 2005 at Lake Matinenda in Ontario. The solar panel raft charges a battery that in turn powers a pump to fill a hot tub on a cliff about 12 feet above the water. It is a box with a custom pond liner and a propane pool heater. The raft was deployed each summer.
This year the solar panels are moving to the roof of the cabin….. no more raft.
