The color prompt makes me think of the Farmer’s Market. Our Saturday market opens April 7. Hooray, spring is around the corner!

To market, to market
to buy a fat pig

Home again, home again

The robins come in early. The tree looks like one of those find it games, or a puzzle where the pieces all look the same. They fly in and out of the tree and sometimes all take flight at once.
Others wait in the tall trees across the street, alert for danger.

At home I saw another smaller flock in a tree in my yard. A flock of smaller birds joined them. It is the silhouette that tells their story.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: hum.
Tictoc is the hummingbird who lives in my yard. I don’t think they can fly in heavy snow.

It finally stopped snowing. Tictoc was really happy.

I am watching the birds and deer eat the winter berries. This is in my yard. I have a tree that I watch out the window at clinic. Robins will land in a flock in three tall trees across the street. They will swoop from across the street in groups and eat the berries. The berries will disappear from the top of the tree down, the most risky and exposed ones last.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving.
My daughter precleaned and neatened the kitchen. We shopped in the morning after choosing the final menu. We made stuffing together. I did the turkey. She made garlic mashed potatoes, carrots and a really delightful cranberry sauce with cayenne. I made the gravy, brussel sprouts and celeriac and our friends brought two beautiful pies! Apple and pumpkin!
My daughter set the table after trying multiple tablecloths. She also washed pans and bowls as we cooked. Our guests helped with cleanup as I dismantled the turkey. Turkey broth is done this morning and they left us pie. Pie for breakfast and all cleaned up!
Have a delightful day and rest of the weekend.
For Norm2.0’s Thursday doors….
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: empower.
J and I did not pick these mushrooms. We only picked two kinds, that we were both sure were edible. We must have seen about 15 species or more… I feel empowered to collect mushrooms and eat those we are sure of, but I am going to be very very cautious about others.
And I have had people say that they would never eat a mushroom that someone collected. I know some of the mushroom collectors that sell to our food coop and I trust them. Do we trust things in stores more than our wilderness now? And yet some things in stores are not safe….
