Morning ablutions

I took this with my Panasonic F150, zooming in, walking part of the Blue Heron loop along the Colorado River. Wow! Not truly ragged, but think if instead of combing our hair, we had to clean and arrange all of these fantastic feathers! The heron demonstrated many spectacular neck positions and can fan out the feathers in amazing ways. I tried not to disturb her too much.

Done for now.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: ragged.

Does my hair look ok?

Ok, they are feathers, right? I think this is a flock of Red-Breasted Mergansers. I took this in Puget Sound from Marrowstone Island on October 30, 2021.

“Look, the babes are checking me out.”

Mundane Monday #204: detail

For Mundane Monday #204, my theme is detail.

I think the minimal color palette shows off the detail of the duck’s feathers and of the grasses. She was also very calm. I walked to the edge of Kai Tai Lagoon and didn’t see her next to me until I was standing there. She held very still in the sun.

Attach your photograph or photographs with detail that you enjoy or fascinates you. I will list them next week. And thanks for the get will wishes re influenza!

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: flight.

This photograph delights me. The young eagle is so ruffled and scruffy compared to the parent. Feathers all every which way, like a gangly teenager. And looks a bit sullen and grumpy, too. My teens were certainly hungry all the time and I suspect that the eagles were out because they are hungry too, so early in the spring.

Thank you, eagles!

As we walk away from the tree, here is a shot back. Both are still present but you do have to look for them. I look for the shape from a distance.
