Evening beach walk again and the dimming light made everything look a little different. I startled for just a moment, seeing this as a spider emerging from the sand…..
As the sun set last night, everything became bluer. The light was so gorgeous, fading….
I went down to the beach last night with my camera, to catch the light from the setting sun on the clouds and walk the beach.
I am realizing that I like my house but I love being outdoors and I love my work and writing and photography and knitting and exercise…. the end result is that organizing the house after 10 years of being a single mom, full time doctor and opening my own clinic, along with my sister’s and father’s deaths…. well, I’d rather be outside than work on the house. If sorting the house takes time, I don’t mind. I want to walk on the beach and see the sunset more than I want to organize….
Come with me…..
I took this yesterday with my cell phone. The sun was setting and moon rising and it was gorgeous.
While my daughter was home from college over break, she went for night walks and runs on the beach. I went along sometimes, on the walks. It is so beautiful in the evening light and in the dark…
The east and the west are yours, the north and the south are yours.
The center is mine.
I stand in the center, I sit in the center, I sleep in the center.
I move and it moves with me.
There are no doors to close.
I am here and the Beloved is here and the universe is all around me.
I walk in beauty and ugliness, joy and grief, riches and poverty.
I walk on concrete and in trees, indoors and out, up stairs and down.
I walk on land and in seas, below ground and above, in darkness and light.
Now I walk in beauty: beauty before me, beauty behind me, above me and below me.
The center holds: blessing to the Beloved.
For the Daily Prompt: fortune, an old poem. This is the version I learned, but there are others… I think that I learned this from a nursery rhyme book, that had been my mother’s. A cautionary tale, perhaps….
“Where are you going, my pretty maid?”
“I’m going a-milking, sir,” she said
“May I go with you, my pretty maid?”
“No one will stop you, sir,” she said
“What is your fortune, my pretty maid?”
“My face is my fortune, sir,” she said
“Then I can’t marry you, my pretty maid.”
“Nobody asked you, sir,” she said.

I took the photograph a few days ago at sunset. We are almost at the solstice. Blessings all.
