For the Ragtag Daily Press #60: quarry.
This is a white crowned sparrow being very cautious. I know the song and was answering back, with my weird human accent. You can listen to the different songs here.

From Finnriver on Saturday, at the Interdependence Day Celebration.
Guard geese?
They seem to be enjoying the sunny day and people and music and kiddie pool too.
Walking the beach Saturday at the -3.0 tide, the first bird we saw on the beach was… a pair of goldfinches. Only one in this picture. But there were two down enjoying the sun and the water and the seaweed. I don’t think of goldfinches as shore birds, but they didn’t seem to care what I thought….

For Wordless Wednesday.
Here is a Ruddy Duck, in the midst of a display. There were two males, with the fabulous blue beaks, and two more subtle females. This male was pursuing one of the females. She kept escaping and went near the other male and female. Safety first.
