The sky in Grand Junction is so open and big. And it is dyed amazing colors by the rising or setting sun. This is unretouched and right off my phone. Sometimes I don’t believe the colors.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: dye.

I am a nighthawk, but my time is the second half of the night, not the first. I wake early, many mornings at 4:00 am. I am up and I am watching the stars because it is clear so often. I am learning new constellations: working out from Cassiopeia, I know Perseus and Aries, Taurus and Gemini. I have a street light at the south west corner of the house, so Pisces is very faint next to Pegasus. I’ve know the Big and Little Dipper and the North Star since I was a kid, and Orion, with the belt and sword. Jupiter and Mars have been out and Saturn as well.
I want to camp up on the Monument so I can really see the stars, where it is really dark.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: Astrology!
Picadillo? Peccadillo? Jam or a recipe or a quirk or habit?
Spelling perfectly is not one of my peccadilloes.
And the photograph? Both Sol Duc and I are fond of the hay barn. And taking photographs of the sky.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: peccadillo.
Yes, there are things out on North Beach on the Olympic Peninsula.

I am not always sure what they were or are, but they turn orange with rust.
And then there are other orange things: this oyster catcher’s beak, for example!

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: iron.
This morning is quiet, quiet and Sol Duc and I took a late walk for us. We could hear bugs and a train, across the valley. We went over to the fence where the farm starts. Barbed wire and an electrified fence, so we did not trespass. Sol Duc is wearing red, but get her in the weeds and she’s darn difficult to see.

Have a wonderful day and drive carefully.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: barbed wire.
I miss my Salish Sea. At home I can’t see it from my house, but stand in the middle of my street and there it is.
All that water. There are mountains here and trees, but they are very different. Here it is high desert, 4600 feet and up. The Grand Valley is at 4600 feet and the mesas rise from here. I miss Port Townsend Bay, and the big trees.

Gold sky and blue water. Look! A grebe! Catching breakfast!

A pair.

And they dive.

Gone.

They are small on the big water.

Taken in November, 2018.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: contemplation.
This is looking back from a cul de sac.

The buildings meet overhead going in.
At the end of the cul de sac?

Venice. Is it a cul de sac if it ends in a water road?
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: cul de sac.
Are they called goals in cornhole?
Sol Duc has a goal.

Warm belly fur. I am not sure she is going to like going home. When we first drove up the Olympic Penisula, my daughter was two. It was three pm on New Year’s Eve, getting dark, and we were on 101 with the very tall trees blocking most of the light. “Where sun, mom? Me no can see sun.” Sol Duc will probably ask the same thing: Where did the sun go?
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: goal.
There must be a bell here somewhere. I am sure of it! This is Cinque Terre, taken when my daughter and I were hiking last September. It was a beautiful and fabulous day! We hiked the trail for three towns and that was enough. I thought my legs might fall off.

And the water! Gorgeous.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: bell.
