Elwha is asleep on my lap. I am the one purring because he is out.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: asleep.

Under the hazelnut tree. A squirrel alerted me to ripe hazelnuts this year and I picked all I could. Yum! Thank you, squirrel!
I have to watch Sol Duc when I am not holding the leash. She will sit for a long time and then suddenly trot off somewhere else. She has favorite spots where she can plot to catch birds.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: underwear! I thought about using this photograph, but I am job hunting. It might not be the best choice for now.
I do not like daylight savings and I am waiting for it to stop. And not happen again.
The cats need lights this time of year. They are not enthused, but otherwise I have to walk them separately holding the leash. Our rule is I don’t hold it unless they go out of our yard. We are on a fast road.

Duck and coot traffic at Kai Tai Nature Park.

Laptop traffic. It’s busy.

Bushtit feeder traffic.

Great blue heron traffic. How many do you count in this tree?
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: traffic.
How many cats?
Mom takes me and Sol Duc out together in the lovely dark before the cars start roaring. I don’t like the big trucks or the buses. First she put on our lifesaving devices.

I have the red one. We went outside. Sol Duc is mad because mom and I kept following her when she would try to run off alone. But why did mom laugh when I ran to make sure she was ok? My lifesaving device is a little heavy and wiggles.

Anyhow, we love to go outside. And come back inside too.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: spooktacular.
My yard and garden have wonderful fall leaf colors.

It is getting darker and the sun is rising later. Halloween is on a Tuesday, three weeks from now. I am walking the cats in the predawn time and sometimes in the dark. Sol Duc is black and her harness is dark red and I can’t see her at all if it’s good dark night. Our rules are that I let the leash go if they stay in my yard or the neighbor’s yard. We have a fast road for our town and I have had a cat get killed.
When it’s really dark, I either need to keep the leash or put a light on Sol Duc.

Meanwhile I am taking spooky photographs of flowers in the near dark.

Here is our young spike with Sol Duc. She is very interested in the deer.
He was interested too, but was also thinking about chasing her. Sol Duc prudently declined to go any closer. He turned away and followed the does, while I retrieved Sol Duc and took her inside. Whew!
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: spike.
The Ragtag Daily Prompt is change. Lots of that here, since I was gone for two weeks!

Sol Duc tongue out.

Looking big-eyed, like a Keen painting.

I found this skull hiking as a kid. It was very very clean already. I suspect it is an opossum, but I am not sure. It did have two sharp longer teeth in front but they have fallen away.
No vermin here. I wish Elwha liked to eat the tiny ants, though.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: vermin.
