What do you know?
Where will you go?
Around the world in eighty days
1873 writer braves
a story to stun and amaze
journeying difficult yet craved
And do we now want it all?
Explore and travel still don’t pall
Yet changing weather makes cities fall
What change will make us heed earth’s call?
No Passepartout to pack my bags
Ethics queries about plane rides
A portmanteau inside my mind
Books are trips, to earth be kind
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: portmanteau.
The pendulum swings far and back
Too many babies, what will we all eat?
Suddenly the switch, another panic attack
Now too few to support Wall Street
We wait in running cars in the drive-thru line
Wanting our turn to order fast food
It’s sunny through the smog and we feel just fine
The weather’s getting stranger, the world in a mood
Maybe we’ve peaked while driving around
Who will take care of us when we are old?
Peaked at the drive-thru, going down without a sound
An AI wonders at the price of gold
This might be as good as it gets
Maybe an AI will keep a few of us as pets
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: drive-thru.

The twinkling stars give way to the sun rising.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: twinkling.
I did not bring a quilt on this trip. I brought two favorite blankets instead. This is the Pendleton wool throw. At home I use it for couch naps. Elwha loved to snuggle under it with me.
The second is a fleece blanket that the cats like to snuggle up to at night.
And on the blanket? Mouse and squirrel.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: quilt!
I took this somewhere along the 1217 mile trip with two cats from Port Townsend, Washington, to Grand Junction, Colorado. Idaho, I think. This a view rest stop as I drove up out of a valley.

Elwha and Sol Duc weren’t too sure about the trip. We started with them in the back and a net between the from and the back. I had to stop within an hour because they could get by it. Elwha wanted to ride by my feet and Sol Duc under the seat.

So then I set up their crate in the back seat and put both cats and the catbox and water into it. They didn’t love it but it worked. I would put their harnesses on and then put them in the carrier to go in to motels.

It was pretty exciting to check into a motel with two cats.

A new place to explore each evening.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: panorama.
Elwha has been spotted, I am pretty sure, three times out back in the bushes where he disappeared. Now, if I can get him to come out. A very nice person sent photos. It looks like he’s dropped serious weight since he ran off. I am going to sit out there this evening and see if he will come to me.
Taken at Lake Matinenda in Ontario in August 2012. I love being out in the early morning and watching the sun rise and the color flood over the lake. With tea or coffee. I was up there with my daughter. I would tiptoe out early when she was asleep.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: table.
