In my room, where is that?
In my room, the room in my head, there is home
and wilderness, unexplored and unending, never tame.
All the wild places I have been, or seen, or heard of
or imagine. It’s a wonder that I can speak at all
words in the daily day, after wandering the wilds.
Why does anyone ever come back?
Why does anyone ever come back?
Except to explore other rooms and add them to ours.
I listen to the Brahams Requiem, a painting in orchestra and voice,
of his room, his wilderness, his despair and joy.
I am glad to come back for this and others like him.
That is why anyone comes back.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: in my room.
It’s time for some color! I love orchids.
Taken in December, in the Orchid room at the US Botanic Gardens.
“Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver but the other gold.” My parents taught me that round. We sang lots of rounds growing up.
What does the picture have to do with knitting? I knit the hat! I got to hike with old friends from the 1980s last week. They are old friends, not old! Well, we might be getting a little grey.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: knit.
Elwha watched me decorate my stick with soft ornaments and paper ornaments.

Both cats helped, removing ornaments when they were not pleased with the placement. Including ones near the top.

I think the decoration will continue to change and evolve right through Christmas.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: stick.
The stockings are ready!
This is from last year. I forgot to bring my stocking this year. I will have to use a sock! Well, Santa will surely understand.
My ex says happy chanakwanschristmasfeliznavidad. All one word. And love, joy and peace to you and yours too.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: holiday.
There just isn’t quite enough snow for a sleigh
but the kids at heart figure out how to play
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: sleigh.
Taken in 2018.
Very happy Solstice, the day when our lovely orb Sol returns from her southern vacation and graces the north with her presence. And yet, it’s the first day of winter.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: orb.
Do we have a word for fungal flowers? Or are these lichens?
For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
On Saturday, Wild Rose Chorale caroled downtown and I took pictures.

At four pm people started to gather at the tree for the lighting ceremony and the train.

Santa arrives on the Kiwanis Train and then we count down to the tree lighting!

And we have the advent of the lights.
Wild Rose has a concert this Friday in Port Townsend! Here: https://www.wildrosechorale.org/upcoming-concerts/
