Silent Sunday – February 11
Is it a flower or not?
For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
It is almost the solstice and there are fewer flowers, but there are still plants that are thriving. The lichens love my old board fence. It was there when I moved in 23 years ago and is weathering and weathering and supporting moss and lichen. Apparently there are still spiders who are building webs in a hopeful manner too.

Lichen are a lifeform formed from algae and fungi, which is amazing. Apparently they join forces when they can’t survive on their own and form a different creature. And it’s not just one kind of algae or one kind of fungi, but lots of them! I am reading Entangled Life: How fungi make our worlds, change our minds and shape our futures, by Merlin Sheldrake. It’s really quite amazing. I love science, it opens up the world!

Lichens and mosses are amazing.

For the Daily Prompt: encrusted.
We had very early snow on Sunday that melted as it warmed up. And under the snow is lichen and the wooden roof.
This is for photrablogger’s Mundane Monday #45.
I just found this picture, taken in early 2015…. I fantasize about a small greenhouse built around a hot tub and full of hothouse plants, or cool northwestern northwestern plants, mostly orchids and mosses. My own private jungle…..
I want to go visit our local rainforest soon: the Hoh Rainforest….
