So do some things bloom year round here, besides dandelions? I found quite a few things still blooming uptown near the Farmer’s Market.

These are the berries the robins eat in late January, early February, when there isn’t anything else to eat. I don’t think they like them that much, but it’s what is left. They will eat them from the top of the tree to the bottom outside my clinic window, with a dozen robins in the tree at once.

The Northwest weather certainly confuses me. Sometimes I think it confuses the plants too. Blooming on Saturday, uptown Port Townsend.

I wandered around between the Library and the Farmer’s Market yesterday and took pictures. This tree really looks like a flower: I was fooled for a minute. There are still things blooming and the leaves are still really gorgeous.

I took this last week. It was sunny and cool. Now it is a bit warmer but with the clouds low and thick and sometimes raining. Gray. The leaves are coming down.

As the leaves fall and the rain comes, colors leach from the leaves. Nutrients for the next year.

I have been focusing on the beautiful leaves and trees, but at North Beach there are still flowers stubbornly blooming, even though it has been near freezing every night for the last week.
