Indoor bloom
I move my hibiscus, to a western window. The south window is too shaded by ornamental plums. I would like to have them trimmed. The hibiscus is delighted by the western window and promptly puts out a ton more leaves and blooms. Well, ok, I get it. I feel that way sometimes too: NEED MORE SUN.

So do some things bloom year round here, besides dandelions? I found quite a few things still blooming uptown near the Farmer’s Market.

The Northwest weather certainly confuses me. Sometimes I think it confuses the plants too. Blooming on Saturday, uptown Port Townsend.

Stubborn red
Another flower still blooming in October and bright red!

Beach yellow
I have been focusing on the beautiful leaves and trees, but at North Beach there are still flowers stubbornly blooming, even though it has been near freezing every night for the last week.

Stubborn gold
It’s mostly colorful leaves at this time of year on the Olympic Peninsula, but there are a few stubborn flowers, like this dandelion.

Changing
So is the tree vacuuming all of the nutrients and chlorophyll out of the leaves? Or do the leaves send the nutrients back themselves and glory in their colors before falling? Or both? Who is a tree expert out there?
