I think this is a Western grebe. Or a Clark’s. There was a pair together down by the water Saturday when it was stormy. They were fishing quite happily.

I love grebes. We have the pied-bill and the western, but mostly in winter. They are the cutest darned things — love your photos.
Thank you! I’ve seen pied-bill grebes here too. Still learning the west coast birds since I grew up on the east coast and did my bird class years ago in Wisconsin.
