Goosesit

I goose sat last week, for friends going out of town. The geese knew I was a stranger and they were unenthused. I sang “Go tell Aunt Rhody”, but they didn’t like it. I tried “Molly Malone” on the second visit, but this was not received with joy either. I gave them fresh water and food anyhow.

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: goose.

I didn’t think they would appreciate “The Fox” either.

  1. “Go Tell Aunt Rhody is sinister” Your pals, the grey geese.

  2. My wife used to sing “The Fox” to our kids and her brother sang it to his kids. (I think their mom sang it to them, so they passed it on.) I remember “Go Tell Aunt Rhody” mostly from Jean Ritchie, a singer I don’t particularly care for. I was trying to get into an upper level folk music course once and mentioned her to impress the professor. Turns out he liked the same music I did so I admitted I dropped her name to impress him and told him who I really liked. He accepted me into the class.
