For Cee’s Flower of the Day.
Oh, dear. My not so cheerful take on “micro” today is the tiny particles in the air from the fires. The sky held this front yesterday and the weather changed. The air was brownish by afternoon. Yesterday at 5 the Air Quality Index was 36, not too awful. This am it is 78 here, though a map of Washington State AQI shows that it is really severe in Eastern Washington. Fire season.

The screen shot is from here.

I set up my home air filter: a box fan and four filters. I had my windows open last night and woke with a headache from the air. It also makes me irritable. When I really smell the smoke, my brain keeps sounding an alarm: “Fire! fire!” I have to reassure it: yes, there is a fire, but it is not here right now. Cross your fingers. Now I’ve closed the house and have the fan running. Inelegant but very effective at filtering the tiny particles and cleaning up the air.
Consider wearing an N95 if you have to be out. We do not want those tiny micro particles in our lungs. I am holed up in the house today. We may have rain tomorrow which will quiet it down.
When the air gets really bad, the cats even refuse to go out.
Be careful out there.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: micro.

Now I want a waterproof camera. This is on Marrowstone Island, a very low tide, and the seaweed in the beach furrows.

It’s morning and time to stretch and lie around somewhere.
Until it’s time to go see the deer.

“I make sure mom is nearby, just in case they are fierce.” says Elwha.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: typical.
A friend brought this for my birthday months ago. It is very happy.

Ready! (But wait, how practical is leather for sailing really?) I love this jacket.
For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: pirate.
Barbie doctor is trying to interview the Get Real Girl about the origin of the missing part in front of her, but Elwha intervenes.
“Who, me?” says Elwha. “I am trying to help! I don’t eat Barbies or Get Real Girls!”

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: missing part.
The funny bit is that I knew right where this missing part was: on a dresser upstairs. It’s the rest of the doll that has gone missing.
I am taking your dreams because you don’t want them.
You don’t want him. Your small child.
You let him out to play with me, for a while.
But you say you you are always happy.
You say things are perfect.
You say our friendship is forever.
Then you start to back away.
You take music first: I can’t sing along.
You stop teaching me your instrument.
You stop me from listening to practice.
You sing to me on my guitar
but you never listen.
You keep me from your friends.
You keep me from your family.
You don’t want to say
that you love me as a friend.
The connection dies as you hack parts away.
Only the beach is left.
Your small child plays and laughs with me
at the beach.
And that is gone too.
I am hurt. I block the connection for a year.
A year is gone.
You won’t come back.
You can’t come back.
I do not want you back.
But I open the connection.
I want your small child
and all the monsters you keep hidden.
Bears and monsters, come.
Come with the small child and play.
Is it unethical to steal a soul
if it is not loved?
If it is not listened to?
If it is trapped and frightened?
I am stealing your dreams because you don’t want them.
And I do.
