This disheveled bird is an immature bald eagle. They take 5 years to gain the fully white head and tail. This one has a parent along.

The parent has better grooming habits. They are both in a tree at Fort Worden.

Sometimes I can spot them from a long way off.

And then it’s lovely to have a zoom lens.

And what is this eagle parent saying to their offspring?

For the Ragtag Daily Prompt: eagle.
Amazing pictures!!!!
It was an immature one that visited our yard with its squirrel. The trophy was just a bit too large to fly away with, so it ate it right there in front of the cat and dog who watched every morsel go down with a sort of horror.
Wow! My daughter and I were walking North Beach and there was a dead pacific octopus. Huge. Two eagles on it, two in a tree above and two more flying in. And then another bird flying, that turns out to be a tourist: a black vulture, up from Texas!
Watching them unclose is certainly different from photos or from a distance.
Oh, yes. Like startling a four point buck when I went out to my car. They are scary at close range!
