Taken on July fourth downtown. This bee is more interested in the flowers than the parade.

My garden bees again, happy.

I patted a honey bee yesterday.
The bees were having such a lovely time on these flowers in my front yard, plants that my neighbor gave me. I worked with a zoologist right after college who was studying honey bees. With that experience in the past, I patted a bee very gently. It shrugged a little and went back to the flower, much too busy to think of stinging me.

The bee was unexpected in this photograph! Taken at the Dahlia Trial Gardens.

Really, the Point Defiance Dahlia Trial Garden could be called a Bee Trial Garden. I don’t think I’ve ever photographed so many different kinds of bees! And very happy bees, too.

Point Defiance also has a Dahlia Trial Garden, right by the rose garden. I am with the bees again, who love the simpler less petaled more open ones. Easier to get to the pollen! They are gorgeous.
